The quick-fire comedy improvisation show

Instant Wit Education Programme

Click to enlargeINSTANT WIT offer a wide range of performance related special-skills and training workshops to teachers, adult education groups, theatre groups, youth theatres, local authorities and schools.

These include:

COMEDY IMPROVISATION
An exploration of the techniques and enjoyment of comedy improvisation. The workshop is designed to explore spontaneous improvisation and the various theatre games and strategies used in performing in a completely improvised show.

ACTING TECHNIQUE
A developmental acting course to provide a basic training in theatre skills. The course explores the underlying disciplines of voice, text, characterisation, improvisation and audition skills.

STAGE FIGHTING
A workshop on the basic techniques of unarmed combat stage-fighting, using video footage of various stage-fights in action. The workshop culminates in an opportunity for groups to devise their own choreographed stage-fight.

TRAINING DAYS
INSTANT WIT has been asked on a number of occasions, to run dedicated training days for students and/or staff at schools and for local authorities. The themes explored have included:

Self-esteem   Career days
Gender issues   Drug awareness
Elections for the Youth Parliament   Managing conflict

INSTANT WIT frequently conduct workshops on comedy improvisation & acting technique with G.C.S.E and 'A' Level Theatre Studies students and then consolidate their work with an opportunity to come and see an INSTANT WIT show in the evening.

"INSTANT WIT were a huge success. They pitched their material perfectly for our mostly 14 to 18 year olds. But I still saw parents and staff with tears in their eyes as the 'Opera' in the girls' changing rooms unfolded!

The workshop during the day was also a valuable and worthwhile extra.
I strongly recommend all secondary schools to consider booking this company."
